The World Series of Poker is now the biggest, most famous poker event on the planet. Harrah's purchased Binion's Horseshoe Casino, the original poker palace of the WSOP, still located in downtown Las Vegas.
It's a great place to play poker year round, and there are local Texas Hold'em tournaments there every weekend, and ring games every day where you can play with the locals and vistors. It's not uncommon to find celebrities playing there, who like to just show up there play poker with everyone.
The 36th Annual WSOP tournament event is scheduled begins June 2, 2005 at the Rio in Las Vegas and continues through July 15th.
An estimated 5,000 players are expected to participate in the $10,000 buy-in, no-limit Texas hold 'em Championship - double the number that competed in 2004, making the 2005 WSOP the biggest ever.
